THE HOT LIST!

Woo Hoo!

Summer Arts Camp made NUMBER ONE on the HOT LIST of Summer Camps in the Macon-Warner Robins area on Hulafrog!

For those of you who do not know what Hulafrog is {and we did not a few weeks ago, until they gave us a thumbs up on our Facebook page}, it is a national organization whose mission is simple: to keep you in the know about local things to do with your kids. It is a fabulous resource for all of us here in Middle Georgia and elsewhere too.

This was such a wonderful surprise and makes us proud.  Thank you Hulafrog.

If all of you can show us some loving and click on the BIG RED HEART on our Hulafrog page, we will give you some loving back in June!  Click here to give a kiss to our red heart!  {The more loving, the more parents will find out about how fabulous Summer Arts Camp is!}

A MEXICAN FOLK ART FIESTA!

With a little inspiration from the SAC Team and some brightly colored supplies,

during week one of Summer Arts Camp 2014 the Camper Kids made their very own Mexican Folk art and tin engravings.

Their tools were simple ~ silver tin, ballpoint pens, Sharpies, wire, beads...and their creative minds.

Mobiles of color came alive at our campsite.

The tin panels strung together with colored wire sparkled from the sunlight and fluttered in the breeze.

Iconic Mexican images and patterns were drawn with impeccable detail.

Some mobiles were monogrammed, some showed love...

...others smiled sweetly.

DOODLE DAY ARTS ~ WEEK ONE

The road to Summer Arts Camp 2014 begins right here...

...where Camper Kids from all over Middle Georgia and one from Charleston, South Carolina, gather to play with pens, pencils, and paint on their first day at Summer Arts Camp.

 Matthew is ready to help demonstrate and show the Camper Kids the projects for the day...and I'm right by his side, should he need any help {wink, wink}.

Our first day was Doodle Day and we doodled.

Jackson created fantasy cityscapes on vintage book pages {thanks to The Friends of the Library}.

Then everyone created their very own hand painted SELFIE!  Amielynn was warmed up to pink and orange {I love how she used the cool sky blue in contrast to these colors.}

Demetri concentrated as he brushed on neon yellow to complete his gorgeous palette of fuchsia and tangerine.  {A shout out to Frames & Art Unlimited for their generous donation of archival mat board.  All our selfies were painted on this board today, so they may be worthy of a beautiful frame from Frames & Art!}

 What a fabulous group of Camper Kids!  'Loved seeing some of the SAC 2013 Alumni reunite and Dee Dee and Georgia showing off their fabulous faces together.

Had a great time and looking forward to tomorrow!

WHERE WILL YOUR IMAGINATION TAKE YOU?

Join us for Summer Arts Camp 2014 and let your imagination take you to faraway places...

...where the cityscapes are in technicolor and the sun and moon shine in the skies with galaxies of stars.

What goes on in the rooms behind these multicolored walls, only those who join us will know!

We have one availability left for a Camper Kid each week.  Don't miss out on this fabulous and creative opportunity this summer.  We will not be back for another year and who knows what our cityscape will look like then.

EASTER WISHES

This little lopsided lop wants to wish all of you a very Happy Easter weekend.

{This is Gucci, and some of the 2013 Camper Kids became friendly with him last year.  When he's not taking a nap or eating fresh fruit or veggies, Gucci helps us in the studio.}

While we have been working on creative projects for Summer Arts Camp 2014 in our studio, Gucci has been very creative in his garden this Spring...

Planting colorful flowers and painting giant Easter eggs...

Making sure that there is a Southern Gentleman Rabbit to watch over the garden...

...and a Southern Belle Bunny to pick posies and hide Easter eggs under the blooms for the baby bunnies.

Who said that Easter eggs did not grow on trees?

We found some.

What will you find in your basket this Easter Sunday?  Whatever it is, I am sure it will be filled with LOVE.

Happy Easter creative friends.

If you want to see more of our garden treasures and one of the projects we will be creating on Garden Arts Day, click on our recent post, IN AND OUT OF THE GARDEN.}

Speaking of projects...the Summer Arts Camp 2014 projects have been officially been kid tested and approved.  Click on PROJECTS on the right hand sidebar to find out about some of what the Camper Kids will be doing in June.  {We will continue to show you sneak peeks throughout the Spring months.}

Summer Arts Camp 2014 registration continues.  Thank you to new and returning Camper Kids who have already registered.  We are so happy that you are joining us!

IN AND OUT OF THE GARDEN

This time of year, we all enjoy being outdoors and planting our Spring gardens...it's tradition in the South after all, to plant a vegetable garden during Easter week or on Good Friday.

We at the Summer Arts Camp headquarters got a little head start on our gardening this gorgeous Spring weekend and created a new project for our Summer Arts Camp
Garden Arts Day.

Tiny terrariums made using recycled glass jars, bark from fallen trees, pebbles, twigs, Spanish moss, and other treasures, found their way into our garden.

{Nested eggs.}

 {Flower pots of hydrangeas and roses with lady bugs flying about.}

{A petite garden chair in the woods with white balloons tied to it and ready to carry it off to a faraway place.}

A little garden to enjoy year 'round indoors or out.
No water necessary, just some love.

Imagine the possibilities...

~ ~ ~

We would also like to extend a very warm

to all the new Camper Kids who have already registered for Summer Arts Camp 2014. We are excited to meet you this summer!

More projects in the works and we will show them to you very soon.

ARTS AROUND THE WORLD

Are you ready to let your imagination travel around the world?  Get your passport ready, because this will be a first class journey!

During our Summer Arts Camp this June, one of our themed art programs will be an International Arts Day, featuring the arts of a different country each week.

This is just one example of some of the art we will be creating during our International Arts Day ~ Mexican Mirrors and Tin Engravings ~ traditional Mexican Folk Art.

We will also be travelling across the world to far away India and creating our own Indian Mehndi art, the traditional art of painting the hands or feet.

Each Camper Kid will be making his or her own unique Mehndi Henna Hand Prints.

We've got more stamped in our passport, but cannot give away all our secrets, so check back regularly for more sneak peeks of the artistic creations that you can enjoy every day during Summer Arts Camp 2014!

Open registration has officially begun.  All children ~ boys and girls ages 7 to 10 ~ are welcome.

We hope you will join us!
