CELEBRATION OF OUR ARTS ~ SUMMER ARTS CAMP 2014

There is no question, the best art show in town this year was at Summer Arts Camp 2014.

The SAC 2014 Camper Kids were some of the most creative, imaginative, and energetic children we have had the privilege of teaching.

It was a joy to have them all with us this summer and see the work they each created...

...each with their very own individual and unique style.

On the last day of each week of Summer Arts Camp, the Camper Kids carved out their own gallery space to showcase their art works.

Families and friends gathered and the Camper Kids showed off their work to everyone.

The smiles we saw were infectious!

The pride the Camper Kids had when their shared their work was magical.

Their portfolio of work ranged from self portraits and mixed media to papier machè and sculpture.

And then it was time to say so long.

We hope we will see some of these fabulous Camper Kids here at Summer Arts Camp in 2015.

Your spot in the  SAC tent will be ready for you all!

Until then, have a wonderfully creative year.  We miss you already!

MOTHER NATURE INSPIRED

We celebrated the beauty of Mother Nature during both weeks of Summer Arts Camp this year creating upcycled woodland gardens, tiny terrariums, flower fairies, and painted bird houses.

With some supplies from our sponsors, we created mixed media flower gardens by hand painting wooden boards, collected from Ahn's Karate {these were pine boards kicked in half during testings} and some crazy pieces of the same wood cut by Mr. Reg with the jigsaw.

Flowers made with bottle caps and Popsicle sticks were planted, bugs hatched from corks, and rainbows of butterflies flew out of a box of paint chips given to us by Acme Paint & Decorating.

While the paint was drying, the Camper Kids went on a hike in our woods and collected twigs, leaves, blueberries, roses and daisies, pods, and herbs from our garden.  Suddenly a family of garden characters came alive in our SAC tent!

With the bare minimum of tools and lots of imagination the Camper Kids began to daydream and create their very own and very own personal garden creatures ~ each with their very own story.

Winged Flower Fairies and sturdy Green Guys.

A pine cone bird.

Taking a little time to smell the flowers.

A summer romance.

Boy sees Girl.
Boy chases Girl.
Boy gives Girl flowers.
Girl dreams of flowers.

Then came the Garden Fairy houses...or so some said!  Petite bird houses were painted and bejeweled in a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors, each one unique and showing off the personality of it's owner.

It's easy to say that the Camper Kids had fun in and out of the garden on our Garden Arts Day!

STAR STRUCK!

A little blue bird tweeted...

that there was a Wacky Walrus and his girlfriend,

Miss Mouse who wanted to make some new friends.

They found a treasure in the garden...

...and realized that it was a magical theatre!

A garden of gilded flowers, and amethyst and emerald beaded topiary trees, silk curtains, a crowned bluebird, sparkly stars floating above...

and a demure curtain girl set the stage for a puppet party!

Wacky Walrus and Miss Mouse jumped in.

And with a few supplies...

and a clever wooden spoon family,

made new friends!

Soon a Perfect Prince met his Dazzling Darling.

Then the Camper Kids' imaginations went wild and they created menagerie of critters - a Guss inspired pup, some cheetahs, and a pony.

Girlfriends.

More friends and some bunnies hopping around.

Puppet Arts Day during week one of Summer Arts Camp was so much fun.

Everyone was a STAR!
