FABULOUS FACES!

The Fabulous Faces
of Summer Arts Camp 2017!

Every year on our first day of Summer Arts Camp we celebrate our beautiful selves.

We call it DOODLE ARTS DAY.

And, the first doodle we do is our "selfie!"

We sketch an abstract ~ modern arts style ~ drawing of ourselves with a black Sharpie marker.

Then we paint it with vivid watercolors.

And we see what happens.

Some of these silly Camper Kids got carried away and painted their pets...and other sweet creatures.

Every face {and creature} and every child unique.

Their art continues to amaze us.

Expressions that made us laugh.
In a very good way, of course.

We love this first day of Summer Arts Camp, as it allows us to really see how each child expresses his or her self.

Some of these fantastic Camper Kids, even went further and made selfies using just Sharpies.

We thought that they all were GREAT!

This is our fifth and fabulous year of Summer Arts Camp.  It was wonderful to have so many of the Camper Kids return and we so enjoyed meeting new creative souls.

Until next time!

THE FACES OF SUMMER ARTS CAMP

We had some adorable faces with us during our 2016 Summer Arts Camp, and even though camp is done, their smiles will stay with us for quite some time.

As is our tradition on the first day of camp each year, we introduce ourselves and show off our talent with our very own illustrated and painted...

...selfies!

Using black Sharpies and the strategic placement of watercolor on acid free mat board, the two dimensional faces of our Camper Kids came to life.

It is always a fun beginning to our camp week and a barometer of what to expect from these little artists in residence.

We could tell from these works of art that we were in for an adventurous and artistic two weeks.

The saturation of color was beyond bold.

The expressions drawn on these faces so true to the personalities of the Camper Kids.

Their work was such an inspiration to me, that I even had a few moments to sit down with them to paint a couple of portraits myself.

Here is a peek at some of their work in progress...

...and a few who posed with their painted portraits.

We will be posting these photographs on our Instagram and Facebook pages, so stay in the know and  please follow!

LIFE IS A BEACH ~ EVEN IN MACON!

While many of our Summer Arts Camp families and friends are enjoying this Memorial Day weekend at a beach ~ playing in the sand, catching the waves, flying kites ~ we here at SAC headquarters are gearing up for camp to begin very soon, so our beach time will not happen until later in the summer.

However, we wanted to share some fun that you may have while you are by the shore this weekend.

OCEAN ARTS DAY is one of our themed art days during camp this summer and one project we will be creating is a collection of charming BEACH CREATURES...

Mermaids and surfers...

Princess sea angels...

Sea sisters...

...a little mouse,

...and some sea turtles, of course.

So get your head out of the sand, pick up a pail, and collect some sea shells!  Arrange them on a flat surface and take a photo.  Share with us your work on our Facebook page.  We would love to see what you are doing this first official weekend of summer.

Have fun and stay safe.
See you in June!

'ROUND & 'ROUND

Do you ever feel as though you are running around in circles?

Spinning so fast in this life that it is as though you end up right where you began?

We do and did something about it!

Last weekend we camped out on our patio, worked on some new projects for Summer Arts Camp, and revisited some favorites.  Without giving all the details away and leaving a bit of a surprise for you, here's a peek at a paper collage project the Camper Kids will be doing on CIRCLE ARTS DAY.

Then we got some bubble wrap and painted it with bold brush strokes...

...using it as a stamp of sorts, we pressed it onto some mat board and made abstract art.
We even framed them.

But of course we could not waste the un-used paint left on our palette...

...so we painted sheets of paper in bright colors.  When the paint was dry, we punched out circles, of course, and then applied them to mat board creating a bright pattern.

Simple and clean and vibrant.

We got dizzy having so much fun in the sun creating these projects!

CIRCLE ARTS DAY is one of our themed art days at Summer Arts Camp this year.

We hope that you will join our circle of friends and become a Camper Kids this year.

SUMMER ARTS CAMP begins in less than one month!

The bumble bees are buzzing...

...the butterflies are fluttering,

...flowers are blooming.

The dragonflies are gobbling up all the bad mosquitos {so we don't get bitten},

...and the ladybugs are exploring Mother Nature's wonders.

Leaves are green with envy...

...and our camp site is bursting with excitement! We hope that you will join us in June.

MOTHER NATURE GARDEN ARTS DAY is just one of the delightful themed art days the Camper Kids will enjoy.

You may download the REGISTRATION FORM directly from our website or we will send you a form to print.
