BUMBLE BEES & BUTTERFLIES

SUMMER ARTS CAMP begins in less than one month!

The bumble bees are buzzing...

...the butterflies are fluttering,

...flowers are blooming.

The dragonflies are gobbling up all the bad mosquitos {so we don't get bitten},

...and the ladybugs are exploring Mother Nature's wonders.

Leaves are green with envy...

...and our camp site is bursting with excitement! We hope that you will join us in June.

MOTHER NATURE GARDEN ARTS DAY is just one of the delightful themed art days the Camper Kids will enjoy.

You may download the REGISTRATION FORM directly from our website or we will send you a form to print.

We always love to hear from our SAC Families & Friends.

EARTH DAY

Inspired by Earth Day and the love of the jungle, one of our projects this summer at Summer Arts Camp 2015 is creating rain forest critters.

In the studio during this past rainy weekend here at SAC headquarters, we created our very own rain forest theatre full of exotic blooms, lush foliage, fluttering butterflies, and a green canopy.

Who knows what will crawl, slither, or fly into these parts, but we know of one creature that did show his kooky face...

... the CooCoo{Cuckoo} bird of course!

{And we thought he was extinct.  And CooCoo birds don't even live in the rain forest.}

But he could not resist this beautiful oasis and flew in without notice.  We kind of like him here, although Guss was not so sure and was barking and trying to scare him away.

He did not flutter and we are sure he will be calling his flock of fellow nesters from the meadows and marshes to join him here very soon...

...in June.

It's a jungle out there.  Won't you join us too?

MOTHER NATURE INSPIRED

We celebrated the beauty of Mother Nature during both weeks of Summer Arts Camp this year creating upcycled woodland gardens, tiny terrariums, flower fairies, and painted bird houses.

With some supplies from our sponsors, we created mixed media flower gardens by hand painting wooden boards, collected from Ahn's Karate {these were pine boards kicked in half during testings} and some crazy pieces of the same wood cut by Mr. Reg with the jigsaw.

 Flowers made with bottle caps and Popsicle sticks were planted, bugs hatched from corks, and rainbows of butterflies flew out of a box of paint chips given to us by Acme Paint & Decorating.

While the paint was drying, the Camper Kids went on a hike in our woods and collected twigs, leaves, blueberries, roses and daisies, pods, and herbs from our garden.  Suddenly a family of garden characters came alive in our SAC tent!

With the bare minimum of tools and lots of imagination the Camper Kids began to daydream and create their very own and very own personal garden creatures ~ each with their very own story.

Winged Flower Fairies and sturdy Green Guys.

A pine cone bird.

Taking a little time to smell the flowers.

A summer romance.

Boy sees Girl.
Boy chases Girl.
Boy gives Girl flowers.
Girl dreams of flowers.

Then came the Garden Fairy houses...or so some said!  Petite bird houses were painted and bejeweled in a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors, each one unique and showing off the personality of it's owner.

It's easy to say that the Camper Kids had fun in and out of the garden on our Garden Arts Day!

IN AND OUT OF THE GARDEN

This time of year, we all enjoy being outdoors and planting our Spring gardens...it's tradition in the South after all, to plant a vegetable garden during Easter week or on Good Friday.

We at the Summer Arts Camp headquarters got a little head start on our gardening this gorgeous Spring weekend and created a new project for our Summer Arts Camp
Garden Arts Day.

Tiny terrariums made using recycled glass jars, bark from fallen trees, pebbles, twigs, Spanish moss, and other treasures, found their way into our garden.

{Nested eggs.}

 {Flower pots of hydrangeas and roses with lady bugs flying about.}

{A petite garden chair in the woods with white balloons tied to it and ready to carry it off to a faraway place.}

A little garden to enjoy year 'round indoors or out.
No water necessary, just some love.

Imagine the possibilities...

We would also like to extend a very warm

to all the new Camper Kids who have already registered for Summer Arts Camp 2014. We are excited to meet you this summer!

More projects in the works and we will show them to you very soon.
