A BEAUTIFUL MESS!

One of the most fun Summer Arts Camp projects to date is paper marbling which we introduced last year.

Paper marbling is a method of surface design, which can produce patterns similar to those found in smooth marble or other kinds of stone.

Our technique was very kid friendly and fun, using shaving cream as the solution on which we floated the color.

We dripped watercolor paints onto the smooth, creamy surface of the shaving cream which was in a tray, and then created marbled patterns by gently swirling the colors in the shaving cream.

When the patterns were finished, the Camper Kids carefully pressed watercolor paper - ever so lightly - on top of the goop...

...and then carefully lifted it out.

After each Camper Kid dipped about three sheets of paper, they scraped the solution off of the paper and what you see in the above photos are some of the beautiful results.

Each one a unique monotype.

The Camper Kids made note cards out of their marbled papers, but long ago these types of papers were used as book covers or writing surfaces for calligraphy.

Clean up time was a kaleidoscope of color and a beautiful mess!

Guaranteed, that we will be doing this project again at Summer Arts Camp 2017.

We hope you will join us in June in our creative and beautiful mess!

SILLY RABBITS & A GOLDEN RABBIT TOO

Can you find the Golden Rabbit?  It's almost as good as finding a Golden Egg.

Come on and help us find him.  Look closely in the nooks and crannies...

...down deep and all around that big white wicker Easter basket.

Cleopatra decided to jump out and look for that elusive Golden Rabbit herself.  Do you see him yet?

Cotton caught a glimpse of that gilded hare too, as she peeked over the giant Easter basket wondering what was going on out there.

Cleo found him and then gave him a warm fuzzy kiss!

If you join us in June, you too may find the Golden Rabbit around our Summer Arts Camp site.  And you may get a chance to pet our silly rabbits, Cotton and Cleopatra, too!

Easter Blessings to All.

DOODLE DAY ARTS ~ PART DEUX {Pronounced "do" as in "doodle!"}

Our second week of Summer Arts Camp could not have been better.

{Our doodle tools for the day.}

Again, many of our SAC Alumni were with us, as well as our new favorite SAC Camper Kids!   {But you know by now that we love them all, and they are all our favorites!}

It's tradition to begin each Summer Arts Camp week with "Doodle Day Arts" and this year's projects were fabulously wonderful.

Each Camper Kid put their hand prints all over us...

...with LOVE and JOY...

...and watermelons and strawberries!

We doodled on plates with Sharpies and created marvelous monograms, a riot of rainbows, and some serious sports designs.

We even created a memento with all the Camper Kids' autographs {from both weeks...which we will keep forever!}.

We made "selfies" and had fun getting to know each other.

I even had a minute to create my own "selfie" on a plate with a black Sharpie.

It was a wildly creative day and great start to our second week of Summer Arts Camp 2015!

THE HOT LIST!

Woo Hoo!

Summer Arts Camp made NUMBER ONE on the HOT LIST of Summer Camps in the Macon-Warner Robins area on Hulafrog!

For those of you who do not know what Hulafrog is {and we did not a few weeks ago, until they gave us a thumbs up on our Facebook page}, it is a national organization whose mission is simple: to keep you in the know about local things to do with your kids. It is a fabulous resource for all of us here in Middle Georgia and elsewhere too.

This was such a wonderful surprise and makes us proud.  Thank you Hulafrog.

If all of you can show us some loving and click on the BIG RED HEART on our Hulafrog page, we will give you some loving back in June!  Click here to give a kiss to our red heart!  {The more loving, the more parents will find out about how fabulous Summer Arts Camp is!}

What do you think we are going to be doing our very first day of Summer Arts Camp?

{Image courtesy of PBS.org}

Doodling, of course...because it matters.

But, just wait until you see how we doodle and the art pieces created with our doodles!
